Sister Myra Rodgers entered religious life from St. Martin parish in Pittsburgh’s West End. Of who most influenced her decision to enter religious life, she says, "The Sisters who taught me. I attended school taught by the Sisters of Divine Providence from grades 1-10 (and then) entered the congregation."
Sister Myra was general superior for the Congregation of Divine Providence in the dioceses of Rome, Italy (1995–99) and Providence, RI (1999–2007); special assistant to the president for mission and ministry and adjunct teacher of religious studies at La Roche College in Pittsburgh (2008–09); and director of Providence House in Kingston, MA (2012-2016). Since 2016, Sister Myra has been the president of Sacred Heart School in Kingston, MA. She is also the musician and liturgist at Providence House, a ministry that she's cherished since 2012.
Sister Myra says, “The concept of charism has always intrigued me. I am convinced that it is a living dynamic grace which is our part of the Faith Vision of our founders. I believe that charism continues to deepen and become more actualized as we, new and 'seasoned' members of our Congregation, continue to deepen, use and spend our gifts for the Kindom. Charism personally calls me to delve ever more deeply into how I can spend myself for the Kindom. In my life, charism is also strongly related to Mission. It is my hope to continue exploring this relationship because I believe it is important for the future of our Congregation."
Self-described as a community woman, mission minded and forward looking, Sister Myra enjoys sharing with friends, liturgy, music, reading, politics, writing, the arts and experiencing different cultures.
