Sister Denise Kabacinski entered religious life from St. Mary Magdalen parish in Hazel Park, Michigan. She credits the RCIA program and Anne Fox McGrath for influencing her decision to enter religious life. She has ministered as a group leader at Vincentian Child Care Center in Pittsburgh (1997–00), a group leader at Providence Child Care Center in Pittsburgh (2001–02), was assistant to the provincial house co-directors at Providence Heights in Allison Park, Pennsylvania (2004–05), and was a social rehabilitation counselor at Mercy Behavioral Health in Pittsburgh (2006–12). Since 2013, she has been a part-time advisor with ACHIEVA in Pittsburgh. She also serves on the Providence Heights staff part-time and, since 2016, has been a volunteer in out-patient surgery at UPMC Passavant Hospital.
Of her ministry, Sister Denise says, "The dictionary defines ministry as 'the act of serving.' The dictionary also defines 'challenge' as 'a test of ones abilities in a demanding but stimulating undertaking.' I have found the ministry which I am doing now to be a challenge. I have six women who I minister to and they all have different needs. Many days I want to hang up my hat, but Jesus continues to call me into the position. Seeing the women bathed, fed, smiling and content is for me the definition of satisfying, rewarding and surprising. At the end of a good day, I thank Jesus for being a part of the day."
Self-described as generous, cooperative and understanding, Sister Denise enjoys swimming movies and fishing.
