Associates of the Sisters of Divine Providence are men and women who are drawn to, and called to, live out the charism of the founders of the Congregation of Divine Providence: social justice and compassion.
Associates come from different backgrounds and maintain their own individual lifestyles. They partner with the Sisters of Divine Providence through mutual covenant. Their relationship with the Community encourages Associates to deepen their own spirituality, heed the call for social justice and reach out in compassionate service to others, making Providence visible in the world.
Associates are invited to share in Community retreats, educational opportunities, social events and ministries, where feasible. They receive relevant Community publications and mailings. Associates are invited to participate in annual assemblies as observers, but do not participate in the governance of the Community. There is no canonical, financial or legal obligation on the part of an Associate or the Community.
There is, however, a mutual benefit between Associates and Sisters in that both give expression to Divine Providence and give witness to the spirit of Providence within their own lives. Associates are invited to share their gifts with one another and the world.
